Project Brief & Key Features: 

KBK Engineers (Pty) Ltd. completed the design and construction supervision of the structural work related to a Shell Ultra City rest stop as well as the bridge providing access to the facility.  The bridge provides access to the Shell Ultra City located on only one side of the N2 freeway between Port Elizabeth and Humansdorp in the Eastern Cape province. 

The bridge is of the fully integral frame type and the deck of this bridge structure was post-tensioned.  The bridge consisted of V-shaped piers and wall type abutments with straight return walls.  

The building structure consisted of a combination of reinforced concrete, masonry, and structural steel construction.
